HEPATITIS – PROFESSOR DIETER GLEBE

Dieter Glebe Website

Professor Dieter Glebe is virologist and head of the German National Reference Centre for Hepatitis B Viruses and Hepatitis D Viruses at the University in Giessen, Germany. The overall aim of his research is focused on understanding the evolutionary background and molecular mechanism involved in infectivity, persistence and neutralization of hepatitis B and D viruses. In the past, Glebe discovered and characterized new species of hepadnaviruses and hepatitis D viruses from various mammals, including hepadnaviruses from primates, bats and shrews that could serve as animal models for HBV and HDV. He is also interested in HBV vaccines and analysed efficiency of neutralising antibodies against HBV surface proteins. Learn More Here

HIV – ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR JONATHAN LI

Jonathan Li

Associate Professor Jonathan Li Is The Director Of The Harvard/Brigham Virology Specialty Laboratory, The Director Of The Harvard University Center For AIDS Research Clinical Core, And A Member Of The NIH COVID-19 Treatment Guidelines Panel. He Also Holds Leadership Positions In The AIDS Clinical Trials Group (ACTG) As The Director Of The ACTG Virology Core Laboratories, A Member Of The ACTG HIV Reservoirs And Viral Eradication Transformative Science Group And As The Chair Of Several ACTG Clinical Trials. Dr. Li’s Research Is Focused On HIV And SARS-CoV-2 Drug Resistance, Reservoirs, And Viral Evolution. He Is The Deputy Editor Of The Journal Of Infectious Diseases. In Addition, He Sees Patients In Both The Outpatient Infectious Diseases Clinic And In The Inpatient Consult Service At The Brigham And women’s Hospital. Learn more here

COVID-19 – PROFESSOR KATHERINE KEDZIERSKA

Katherine Kedzierska

Professor Katherine Kedzierska is the Head of the Human T cell Laboratory in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology and an NHMRC Senior Research Fellow Level B. Her principal area of expertise is viral immunology. She received her PhD from Monash University in 2002. Her PhD, performed at the Burnet Institute with Professor Suzanne Crowe, studied immunity to HIV infection and the mechanisms of disease pathogenicity. As an NHMRC Peter Doherty Fellow in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology with Laureate Professor Peter Doherty, Katherine undertook research into the key mechanisms underlying immunological T cell memory formation and persistence. Subsequently, as an NHMRC RD Wright Fellow, then an NHMRC CDF2 Fellow, Katherine has established her independent research on universal immunity to human influenza viruses. Learn More Here

Prof Cath Chamberlain

Professor Catherine Chamberlain is descended from the Trawlwoolway people of Tasmania (Palawa), and a registered midwife and public health researcher (PhD, MPH, MSc Public Health Practice, Graduate Certificates in Health Service Management and Indigenous Research and Leadership).

Professor Chamberlain draws on over 25 years experience in the health sector to facilitate collaborative solutions to complex health issues by applying expertise and evidence to specific contexts and needs of all stakeholders.. Learn More Here
